Marco del Prete Tercero, head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Querétaro (Sedesu), has announced that in 2024, Querétaro has secured 26 investment projects totaling 13.057 billion pesos.

“This year, we have already achieved 26 investment projects, a very encouraging figure, as last year we had a total of 52 projects. We are halfway through the second quarter and have already reached half of last year’s total projects, with an investment amount of 13,057 million pesos and 7,459 new jobs created,” del Prete stated.

He added that these investment projects primarily involve the automotive and electronics sectors, with investments from countries such as the United States, Germany, and Mexico, landing in the capital city and the municipality of Colón.

Looking ahead, del Prete anticipates that by the end of the year, 45 new projects will be finalized, including 14 expansions, bringing the total to 59 projects. These are expected to generate an investment of 158 billion pesos and create nearly 27,000 new jobs.

» Marco del Prete, head of Sedesu Querétaro, highlighted positive expectations for new investments by year-end.

Amazon Project Remains on Track

In response to rumors about a potential halt in Amazon’s investment in Querétaro, del Prete confirmed that the project is still proceeding as planned.

“They are doing their part, and we are doing ours. We continue to work together,” del Prete affirmed.

He estimated that the data centers Amazon plans to operate will be established by the end of 2024 or early 2025. Del Prete reassured that there are no issues preventing the company from continuing with its project.

“We have been in touch with their executives, and we are still working together and awaiting news to proceed,” he emphasized.
