Greenback Recycling Technologies plant inaugurated

This is the first pyrolytic oil recycling site in Mexico.

Nestlé Mexico and Greenback inaugurated the first pyrolytic oil plant in our country, which is located in Cuautla, Morelos and will contribute to the creation of infrastructure for handling flexible packaging.

Philippe Von Stauffenberg, CEO of Greenback Recycling Technologies, said in the first phase of the new pyrolytic oil plant, it is contemplated to transform more than two thousand tons per year of flexible plastic packaging into raw material, in order to manufacture new packaging for different products.

"In Cuautla there is now a magical place where used and flexible plastic arrives, to which no one gave value, and leaves transformed, valuable and with a new purpose," he said.

The executive president of Nestlé Mexico, Fausto Costa, indicated that the circular economy is very important to contribute to the environment and generate valuable products. "With this step we are taking today with Greenback, we are going to enter into circularity, which is a great challenge... how to give an adequate treatment to a post-consumer waste that today had no value, that today we call garbage," he said.

At the inauguration event, the governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo, pointed out the importance of promoting sustainability and on this occasion, promoting the optimization of resources, as well as the reduction in the consumption of raw materials. "We are very proud that Morelos has been chosen for this important project, it takes us to the forefront with the expansion of this economic model; I am very pleased that this company has had the vision to be here in Cuautla, congratulations and success," he said.

It is worth mentioning that Nestlé Mexico made an alliance with Greenback Recycling Technologies, a company based in the United Kingdom, which develops solutions for the collection and recycling of plastic materials.

» The protocol ceremony took place at the plant's facilities, located in the Juan Morales neighborhood of Cuautla Morelos, and was attended by executives from Greenback Recycling Technologies and Nestlé, as well as the governor of the state, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, and various authorities.
