Mexico Central Data Center Operations Begin

Investing in Hyper-Scale Cloud Data Growth in the Country

IN BRIEF/
< This network offers businesses and organizations worldwide access to scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud services locally. >

Microsoft, a multinational technology corporation and leader in digital transformation and sustainable innovation, announced the launch of its first Hyper-Scale Cloud Data Center Region in Mexico, located in the metropolitan area of Querétaro.

Executives detailed that the Region enables the storage and processing of data to revolutionize operations in sectors such as finance, government, and healthcare. Similarly, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as entrepreneurs, have the opportunity to modernize in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, high-volume payments and transactions, streaming, and other key data economy technologies.

Rafael Sánchez Loza, President and CEO of Microsoft Mexico, mentioned that operations began over a month ago with around 30 clients. He announced the general production launch, available to any business or individual interested in secure, scalable, and local cloud services.

Alberto “Tito” Arciniega, President of Microsoft Latin America, highlighted that the establishment of the Data Center Region motivates further investment in a country like Mexico, which stands out for its culture of entrepreneurship, talent, and innovation.

U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Kenneth Lee Salazar, recognized Querétaro as a leader in the aerospace, educational, and technological sectors. “What we’re seeing in Querétaro is that companies like Microsoft make these decisions because Querétaro is a place where there is confidence in investing,” he noted.

Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri stated that with the launch of the Data Center Region, along with Microsoft Latin America and Microsoft Mexico, a fundamental chapter in the country’s technological evolution is being shared. He added that the Querétaro Data Center Region, the first of its kind in Mexico and Latin America, will be part of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world. It will be dedicated to a great purpose: optimizing digital services; opening new opportunities for Mexicans in various fields, and “raising its hand” to meet the challenges and opportunities of the digital future.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Federal Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez, added that with this cutting-edge technology and the intellectual capabilities contributed by Mexicans who have joined the project, these data centers will help revolutionize Mexico’s digital infrastructure.

It is worth noting that in February 2020, Microsoft announced a $1.1 billion investment plan to boost digital transformation in the country, including its first Data Center Region in Mexico. In 2021, it was publicly announced that the new Region would be established in the state of Querétaro.
