Samtech expands in León

The Japanese company will increase its production capacity in the PILBA Industrial Park.

Samtech, an automotive company specialized in forging technology for the production of gears, will invest 19 million dollars to expand its plant located in the PILBA Industrial Park in León, Guanajuato. This was announced by the governor of the state, Diego Shinue Rodríguez Vallejo, during his tour of Asia from June 5 to 17, "Investment Tour 2023, More Guanajuato in Asia".

The current expansion of this plant includes 4,600 square meters of land and its main clients are J-TEKT, NSK and Mazda.

Rodriguez Vallejo assured that, from this plant and its expansion, Samtech will be able to meet the needs of its customers in Mexico, the United States, South America and Europe.

"It is a source of pride for us that world-class companies such as Samtech have set their sights and investment objectives on our state and ratified the investment for its gear factory, with $19 million dollars and the commitment to generate 30 new jobs. I am sure that with this decision, Samtech will expand its presence and participation in the supply sector of the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster," declared the state governor. It is estimated that the Japanese company will generate 30 new direct jobs.

A bit of its history

Samtech arrived in León in 2017, with an initial investment of 27.9 million dollars and 60 direct jobs. With this, the Japanese company accumulated a total of 46.9 million dollars and 90 total direct jobs.

It is estimated that Samtech's plant is located on a 39,800 square meter site, where they currently have a 5,500 square meter plant with 8 hot forging lines of 3,000 tons for shaft and 1,200 tons for closed die.

More Guanajuato in Asia

During the tour of the Governor of Guanajuato in Asia, negotiations with Japanese and Korean companies resulted in millionaire investments for the state, as well as the generation of thousands of jobs. Rodriguez Vallejo informed that the total investment will be 1,26 billion dollars and more than 4,300 new jobs will be created.

Among the investments made were those made by Mitsui High, a company that creates engine cores and rectifiers, which will invest 7.22 million dollars and create 180 new jobs in Apaseo El Grande; Toyota, which will make a new investment of 328 million dollars and create 577 jobs at the same plant. And Yazaki, which announced a new investment of US$5 million and will generate 875 new jobs in Puerto Interior.
