Toyota will produce a new generation of TACOMA

The company continues to rely on the production capabilities of its headquarters in Guanajuato.

With the intention of adapting its production lines at its plant located in Apaseo El Grande, Guanajuato, Toyota is investing around 328 million dollars.

It is expected that the intention of the Japanese assembler is to incorporate a new generation of TACOMA for the North American market, which will be hybrid-electric. This was announced by the Governor of the State of Mexico, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, who was on a tour of Asia, and who visited with executives of the automotive company. "We were at TOYOTA's headquarters, where we held a working meeting with their executives, and they informed us of an investment of 328 million dollars in their plant in Guanajuato," said the state governor.

This brings TOYOTA's cumulative investment in Guanajuato to 1.2 billion dollars, generating 2,577 jobs. "We are excited that this plant will play a very important role in TOYOTA's manufacturing in North America," added the state governor, who thanked TOYOTA executives for continuing to trust in Guanajuato to develop their investment projects and strengthen the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster, the most important in Latin America.

For his part, the president of TOYOTA Motor de México, Luis Lozano Olivares, thanked the government of Guanajuato and the delegation for visiting the headquarters and for confirming the alliance between both parties.

"Since October 2021 we started the preparation of the new generation of TACOMA in Guanajuato," said the executive.

Through a press release, the automaker said that with this amount its investments in the facility total close to 1.2 billion dollars since the announcement of its construction in 2016, and added that the plant currently generates more than 2,500 jobs.

Toyota in the world and in Mexico

Globally, the assembler has 53 plants, of which 15 are located in North America, 10 in the United States, three in Canada and two in Mexico. Mexico ranks 16th in global sales for the company.
