Schneider Electric Inaugurates Industrial Plant in NL

With an investment of just over $29 million, Schneider Electric inaugurated its tenth industrial plant in the country, and the fourth in Nuevo León. The new headquarters of the company specializing in digital transformation for energy management and automation is located in the Stiva Aeropuerto Industrial Park in Apodaca municipality.

From here, the company will manufacture specialized products such as low-voltage electrical distribution panels, essential for hospitals, data centers, digital enterprises, and high-energy-consuming organizations.

These products will primarily be distributed in the markets of the United States and Canada. Jesús Carmona, Zone President of Schneider Electric, commented that with this industrial plant, they will be able to meet the energy needs of clients in the region.

"For 25 years, Nuevo León has been one of the most important states for Schneider Electric, evidenced by the three industrial plants we already have installed and our Innovation Center, to which we now add a new industrial plant that will meet the needs of our customers and allies throughout the region," he said. According to information from their executives, the company expects to grow between 17 and 20 percent in the next two to three years. Currently, 257 employees work in the newly inaugurated industrial plant, with an estimated total of around 460 jobs to be generated.

Innovative Headquarters

The 183,000 square feet industrial plant is expected to strengthen the company's production in Mexico and the United States with significant innovations. It will be an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) facility, allowing the manufacturing of products according to customer specifications and engineering designs.

Agustín López, Executive Vice President of Sustainability, Customer Satisfaction, and Quality at the European company, expressed pride in strengthening their commitment to Mexico by inaugurating an industrial plant that will implement state-of-the-art technology in each of its production processes, driven by the talent of engineers from Nuevo León.

Relevant Sector in NL

The electronic-electrical sector is crucial for Nuevo León. According to Iván Rivas, Secretary of Economy of the state, it contributes 17% of the Gross Domestic Product in Nuevo León and 48% of the state's manufacturing GDP. In 2022, this sector grew by over 17%, and in 2023, with $15 billion, it represented 27% of the state's exports and 13% of the country's.
