With a $5 million USD investment, Major League Industries has chosen Durango as the location for its new manufacturing plant. The company will be establishing a new operational headquarters in the municipality of Tlahualilo, where it will focus on producing airbags for automobiles.

This investment is part of Major League Industries’ strategy to strengthen its presence in the automotive industry. Roberto Arturo Jurado, General Manager of Major League Industries, expressed gratitude for the support from the Durango government and emphasized the significance of this expansion for the region.

“We will be working with a team of nearly 500 employees, with plans to expand to 1,000 workers as production scales up. Currently, our products are present in over 300,000 vehicles in the United States,” said Jurado.

Governor Esteban Villegas of Durango highlighted the importance of Major League’s establishment in Tlahualilo, a region that had previously lost a maquiladora. He described this investment as a significant boost for the area.

“This is like pressing the reset button for Tlahualilo. They are coming to change the lives of the residents in the area,” Villegas stated. He also noted that Durango has seen substantial growth, with $31 million MXN in investments this year, including this new project. This marks the first time in the state’s history that such a high level of investment and job creation has been achieved.

It is estimated that the new facility will create 500 direct jobs in its initial phase, with the potential to expand to over 1,000 jobs as full production is reached.
